Dreaming of a Vacation

When would we ever have the time to go on a vacation? One of the things that's definitely on my list is going on a vacation... with the whole family and I mean the whole family including in-laws and my relatives. I shouldn't forget that my twin(non-biological) and I are also planning a trip to Paris. Paris just looks more beautiful specially when I saw the first episode of the newest season of Gossip Girls. Instead of Serena and Blair, I was imagining that it was my twin and I.
I dream of waking up in hotel Paris.  I am sure it would be fun to try out a bed and breakfast france style. I wonder which channel manager I should use for booking my trip. First thing I'm going to try out in France would be coffee! Yummy coffee. I would also be dreaming of going to museums and thinking of the movie 'Sabrina' as I stroll and discover delis, cafes, art and passion in Paris.
Could it be true that it the most romantic city? What is your most romantic city?
Mine so far is Baguio City, but that's just me and I haven't been anywhere else.

Knowing the Meaning of a Freak Accident

A few days ago, November 19 to be exact, I learned the true meaning of the word freak accident. I think I'm telling this story, embarassing and crazy as it sounds to serve as a lesson to others.

It was around 11 in the morning. The Revo(van) was parked in a slanted manner because our garage goes downhill then flat. Sort of a ramp going down then flat. It was parked in an incline. I offered a ride to my aunt who was going near my son's school so she could save fare. We were ready to leave in about 5 minutes, the driver was going to get the tank of gas(for cooking) he was going to load. I offered my aunt to ride at the back, to wait and I would start the engine so she can have the aircon running. I saw that that the handbrake was up so I had no worries, my aunt got in, and my one foot was in the passenger side and I reached in to turn the ignition while my door was still open and my other foot was outside.

Guess what happened!

The van went roaring backwards. My aunt was screaming inside the van. 2 doors were open. I was flying backwards. My singular thought was TURN IT OFF, TURN THE ENGINE OFF. I don't know how long it lasted. I noticed that we were out the gate which was actually closed so you must know the speed of the van forced the gates open. I noticed that the other vehicles stopped as they were nearing us. I noticed all that as I finally got the engine turned off.

What stopped the van? 2 open doors. The doors were almost torn off their hinges.  Doors were totally bent outward, you couldn't close it. The only injury I got was at my toes, it was as if my toe was sandpapered by gravel as I went flying backward, and a deep muscle bruising at my lower right leg.

Till now, I dread thinking of that simple action I've done so many times and have not caused me harm.
The simple act of turning the ignition key makes my blood run cold. But that was my terror, I gave the driver and my mom, and my aunt who was riding inside even more terror.

What is the Lesson of the Story?  Don't touch a vehicle when you don't know the circumstances. Mine was truly an accident, a freak accident, the van was in reverse because it was parked inclined. I didn't know. I expected the vehicle to not move because of the handbrake.

Check out the doors!

Christmas Gifts for Him

Does anyone else out there have a difficult man to shop for? I know I do! My husband won't give me any suggestions on what he wants for Christmas this year. So, I've decided that I will just try to figure something out for him on my own!

One idea I had was getting him a toy watch. Now, toy watches have been featured on Oprah's Favorite Things and are all the rage in Hollywood. If you haven't seen them yet, they are fun watches that remind me of some of the styles we had back when I was a kid. They have designs with interchangeable bands, ones that have a soft jelly textured band, some even dripping with diamonds. They are a colorful and whimsical accessory that are just plain fun! I think my hubby will really like something like that this year.

Another idea I had for my husband gift is an iPad. He mentioned, at one point, that he thought they were really cool. So, maybe I'll splurge and get one for him. The only problem is, trying to hide the transaction! He's always checking our bank statements, so I'll have to come up with a stealthy way to sneak the money out.

There's always the old standby gifts: things that he actually needs. Ties, shirts, socks, underwear, you name it. He could use a number of things like that. Come to think of it, he really needs a new pair of sneakers. So, I guess I could pick out a pair for him and wrap them up for under the tree.

I have also thought about getting him something that he really won't like. By doing so, maybe he will try to be a little more forthcoming with his Christmas list next year!

On Being Single and Dating....

I have been married for 5 years now. In a relationship with my husband for 12 years now. I remember the days of being single and carefree. I have a few of my friends who are still single and one of my bestfriends who is my non-biological twin is still single and not taken. We are of the same age and I think if I were still single now, I'd probably be one of those who are already posting their profiles on best dating sites. I think I'd call myself a boast, but parents usually like me, the guys don't. So, if there was a date my parent show, I'll totally win. But for me to post my profile in a dating site it should pass a Wix review.

Dating is certainly something that isn't easy and isn't to be taken lightly. Sometimes, you have to take that risk since that risk is worth the effort. At times, it opens up to fears and disappointments, of dreaming that he is the one, when you are just many of the other ones he is dating. To tell you the truth, from what I've learned, you have to love yourself first, be the best version of yourself for yourself and the one for you will appreciate who you are. If it isn't time, or you're getting impatient... just think of it this way. God has a much bigger plan and a much better person in store for you.

Suddenly, I remember a quote from my dorm in college it was etched on my desk. " When all else fails, lower your standards." But I disagree, you need to find your match. Because when you lower your standards, then you are just settling for someone. Don't settle for somebody.  Find your match, perhaps at Match.com.

What About Getting an Online Degree?

In life, there are all kinds of choices to make. You can just move through life, letting it control you, or you can take control and do things the way you want to. Choosing the latter means that you'll have a life that's more to your liking, if you don't give up on the kinds of things you really want. For a lot of people, making their life what they want it to be involves getting an education. Even if they already have a degree, they often go back to school so that they can learn new things, change careers, or advance in the one they already have.

Because of the struggling economy, more people are going back to school right now. There's a catch, though. They don't have a lot of money, they can't afford to drive to classes every day, and some of them are working and/or taking care of kids, so they don't have the ability to change their schedules just to go to school. They might think they're stuck, but they aren't. They can get an online degree from an accredited, reputable school, and they'll never have to set foot in a classroom.

More and more schools are offering degrees this way now, because it's convenient for the schools and convenient for the students. It costs less, too, because there aren't as many commuting expenses and other things that have to be paid for. That can be a lifesaver for a person who doesn't have a lot and who knows that getting an education is the way to get ahead and have more money in the future. If you want to be able to take care of yourself and your family more easily, an online education might be just the thing for you. It's worth checking out.

Talking about Friends

Hubby and I are recently talking about our college friends and their respective courses. Particularly those in the medical field. We were imagining that most of them would be the ones we'll be seeing in television soon being interviewed about medical cases or medical breakthroughs. You know, the ones talking about dengue, immunizations and other new discoveries.

We have at least 3 friends that are doctors now, practicing at different hospitals. I wonder if the hospitals they work with provide them with their own scrub sets. Unless maybe they don't want to use generic ones or they want ones that are comfortable like personalized cotton scrub sets.

I don't think I'll ever be able to be used to the idea of meeting them in a hospital and they'll be wearing white lab coats. I wouldn't know whether I'll fear them or hug them.

Or maybe, I should just share with them where to buy medical scrubs, the online shop I found with designs that looks so adorable and would fit well to their chosen specialization, pediatrics. I'm guessing they'd love to grab themselves some of those to entice more patients to trust in them and of course, to display their own flair for fashion.

Finally my Luck is Changing!

Yay! I won in a contest for best blog review, and in exchange I get a dot com domain!

Just to update you guys on what's happening...

I am currently designing (hopefully) the contest banner for the upcoming contest.

Doing decisions to the length of time devoted to the contest.

Running to Weight Loss

Running has been proven to be a good way to lose weight. Even if you do not have a lot of weight to lose or you have not exercised in a long time, running can be beneficial to your overall health. Many people begin their exercise program by walking, and then work their way up to a running program. There are a few things you should do before starting a running routine, but they will help you reach your weight loss goals.

Before beginning any weight loss program, it is important to talk to your physician. A routine check-up lets you know what your body can handle and if there are any health factors that you should take into account. The second step to preparing for a running program is to buy a good pair of running shoes. Your running shoes can help you feel comfortable and offer stability while you're on the pavement or treadmill. If you don't have good shoes, they can hurt your efforts by making your feet uncomfortable and possibly causing injuries.

Once you have checked with your doctor and bought a good pair of running shoes, you're ready to lose weight. Running is considered to be the most effective form of exercise because it increases your heart rate and offers an intense workout for your muscles. To lose weight, your heart rate must be high for an extended period of time to burn the most calories. Once you have worked your way up to a full running routine, you should run five times a week for at least one hour to maximize your weight loss potential.

The time it will take you to lose weight will be different from the next person and depends on your determination and diet. If you do not eat healthy, then it will take more time to lose weight.

Furniture Retail Software something SM would have

SM or ShoeMart is coming to the next city, if not in ours. That is both good and bad news for local retailers. There are of course equal numbers of pros and cons for its existence if not in our city, but in the next.

I think it would be amazing to have one in the city since it is one of the biggest shopping mall franchises in the country. It would also provide a wider selection of stalls and services for our mall-deprived city. We don't have a mall here, we only have groceries.

It would be amazing to see the large SM Our Home or their furniture section. I am pretty sure they use a state of the art furniture retail software in their POS system. It is indeed very exciting news. The wide array of products has already made me imagine a lot of things. I hope they have a toy store for my kids. But then, I'd have to start saving money like crazy for me to be able to afford going to the mall.

Would you be excited about furniture? A grocery? Clothing stores? Appliances? or Toys? What would excite you about a mall in your city? Any particular stall?

Christmas gift for Hubby???

Funny, how this early I am so worried and I haven't even finished thinking up a plan for my future contest. Well, personally I am just glad that I have these amazing sponsors to thank. This year is definitely better than last year.

I am thinking of giving my husband shoes. He just loves wearing rubber shoes, and he is planning to take on basketball to get his body back in shape. Maybe an Air Jordan will make him smile. I should get two Air Jordans, one for hubby and one for Paul.

Will a matching pair of these look good on my boys? Hmm, perhaps. I really like them wearing the same stuff.  I would love to get my hands on great shoes and find one in hubby's size and another one in Paul's size. We haven't gone shopping in a long while. Where could I get Jordan Shoes? Since, basketball is the sport that hubby would love to excel in and I think he wants to teach our little man basketball as well. As early as now, Paul's interest lies in coins, cars and balls. I wonder if he'll grow up to be a banker, a teller, or an accountant. I just hope he's tall enough to play basketball. He loves playing basketball with his cousin.

Do you have your christmas list ready? Already done? Share the news.

Wanting a Blog Designer?

Want a Blog Designer? Actually no. YOU NEED ONE.
Truth be told, You need A Great Designer.

Seriously. A blog is your brand and your style. They say first impressions last, so your blog template, design and how it looks certainly creates a very big impression to entice future readers.
You may blab about important matters, discuss pertinent issues yet if your blog design is common or hurtful to the eyes then I sincerely doubt whether you will be attracting any visitors.

I am addicted to blog designers and their giveaways. I did that a long time ago. I pretty much stalked the pretty designs of blogs. I know for a fact that my writing is of little interest to anyone so I try to make them stay a few seconds longer than the usual clicks I get, both from adgitize and entrecard.

Currently, I am hoping for opportunities and reviving my earning money online options so I could pay for a great blog design from a great blog designer that I have been hoping for...for some time now.

Kaye's design is prevalent and famous around the world wide web. Marce's Club's templates are somethings that will make you turn green with envy because of the impact they create. It totally looks professionally done and it truly is. There isn't any error in coding not that I know but I haven't been misdirected to any links so it certainly must be done right.

When done by a professional, a blog template will invite its readers to be back. The blog will be marked in the mind of the reader because it is done well. Besides the coding which I am pretty sure is a difficult thing to do. Believe me, I know... I think I've tweaked my blog a hundred to five hundred times with me just getting frustrated. One of the most difficult things designers must face is thinking of the graphics that go well with the blog. Do you know how much a subscription costs to those stock photo stuff? Pricey.. for someone like me.
So you have to be realistic in facing the fact that to get a real professional blog design, you have to know its worth and in the long run, it is pretty much worth it because the design of your blog is yours and yours alone. No one else will have that look. So, I think a blog with a great design, no matter what the cost, is actually priceless.

Harvesting Bangus

I couldn't resist taking the photos of these. My daughter was screaming at my ear the whole time when she saw hundreds of bangus (milkfish) jumping out of the pond as they were trying to evade the net that would capture them.
Hubby and the driver explained to us, that most fishermen are already harvesting their bangus or milkfish because of the fishkill that happened in Alaminos and Sual.
What is fishkill?
A large amount of fish dying due to the extreme change in temperature. An example situation would be when it's so hot in the morning or at noon, and suddenly it rains causing an extreme drop in temperature. Often, this would result to fishkill,
They cast the net wide and big. Then slowly they try to enclose the net. The net is held by at least 20 guys and they try to move closer to each other. As it happens, you get to see hundreds of fish jumping and jumping, trying to get out of the net. We saw some that evaded the net which were caught by little kids holding basins.
Our driver tells us that it is even more beautiful when seen at night, since you can see the scales of the milkfish glitter and sparkle at night.

Thinking

Thinking and tempted to create a blog for the kiddos. Just about them. I'm enjoying waking up early and feeling dead on my feet by the afternoon. My mornings pass by in a rush, and I tend to nap by the afternoon. It's actually funny.

My daughter looks forward to going to school everyday because of the stars on her hands, paper, or stamped on her. My son loves going to school because he plays 'an older brother' to 2 other toddlers.

I wish my daughter finished toddler school, but then it's ok because everything she learns now is new and she's still excited about it.

Would it be a good idea to make a kid blog? I'd love to post everyday what I get as remarks from my son's teacher and maybe maegan's report card or drawings that she does in school.

It makes me both proud and embarassed at the same time.

I still have no idea if my kids are smart. Time and their teachers will tell. Hopefully, they aren't like me and that they inherited their dad's math wisdom.

Yay! It's a Boy!

Just had to shout it out loud!

Congratulations to Mommy Joy and Daddy David Garibaldi for the great news of having a son for a first-born.

I was looking for a photo of a baby boy with a paintbrush, since I couldn't find one, I settled for this one instead!

Yay! Goodluck and hope to see you guys someday.

First Day

Seriously, I do not have the energy to write down this post.

I can barely connect my phone, so all photos to follow...if I don't lazy.

I had butterflies in my stomach this morning. I was worried, paranoid, panicked and wanted to puke my breakfast. I was honestly terrified if today would be a good day or a bad day for my kids.

Let's start from the beginning.

We woke up at 6, but actually I was a nervous wreck that I woke up at 3, then again at 5, then decided I could sneak a few more winks.

I had prepared all their stuff the day before so no worries there.

We started with breakfast, quick baths for everyone up to the grandma.

Since we were all ready, we went to Maegan's school first. She wasn't the first to arrive, she was met warmly by her teacher. She's in a class of 12 where there are 2 teachers so I'm happy about it.

They did the drill of singing the national anthem, doing exercises and greeting the teachers at the wide gymnasium which was totally new to her. Then they went back to their classrooms. We are only allowed a week of observation, then we have to stay outside the gates or the fetcher's designated area.

Next, I had the job of bring my son to his sister's old yet shortlived school. Thankfully, the teacher is her godparent and I received positive reviews that he enjoyed the class even if he was without his sister. That was my biggest worry. I don't know how they'd react that they aren't in the same class and doing the same activities but Maegan erased my worries by saying that because she's a big girl, she has to go to big school and Paul doesn't mind his school too much because he is a sociable boy.

Besides the mall, where do my kids go??

My kids love to go to the mall. Maybe since, it's so easily pronounced. Where do you want to go? "MALL!" moll, schmoll. Sometimes, my little boy, in a fit on inspiration would shout "Arylle's house", that's their cousin who they like to play with even if she's 8.

One of the places where my kids feel so much at home, even if I try them not to..is drumroll please. The Bank.
Yes, crazily, the bank is where my kids love to play. Perhaps it's the environment? Or maybe the friendly staff of our bank. The bank manager loves to interview them and the one handling the account/s of their grandmother loves talking to my kids and asking questions. My kids, in turn, love answering the questions, asks for candies, gets curious about the computers and runs around the place.

But the thing most loved by my kids when they go to the banks are the crowd control items.
This is actually a stanchion and is used in making queues at the bank. My kids however, love to play with the belt, pulling it, or stepping on it and most of all, using it and playing with it in limbo rock. These are actually very useful in banks, and in schools, usually I see them during registration or enrollment period in big universities and mostly banks.

I think different kinds are also used during concerts or awards night where celebrities are just beyond your reach and are behind the velvet rope. I just love watching the celebrities parade specially during the Oscars, you know that as they go through that red carpet and slip through those cubicles barricaded with velvet rope, you are able to distinguish the celebrities from the press and the personal assistants.

It's the Bangus festival in Dagupan today, we saw barricades being setup since there was going to be street dancing. We went to the mall, the bank, and we visited Paul's pediatrician because he was scheduled for a vaccination. Thankfully, he cried just a little and was a very good boy. He was rewarded with a visit to the mall and the mall's play area and of course, his favorite snack.

To: Letters That I'll Never Send Participants

Dear Reader,

A comment made by Cacai got me thinking. I was wondering why she termed the question that way, that I was transferring letters that I'll never send to a blogspot address. Then it hit me. I give link love to those who participate in my blog which already has a pr  of 2, to those participants who take the time to write their letters. Is transferring the meme with poor participants to a blogspot address with no pr seem like a punishment to the meager number of participants who do bother?

So, check out the poll, or leave your comments here.

I want to do what's best for the blog and for the readers, and participants as well.

Definitely, a redefinition of what my blog is about has got to happen. It's time to decide pretty soon.

Looking Forward when faced with the Past.

Graduation

It was Recognition day and visions of both the past and the future overwhelmed me.

Dear Reader,

Here's a photo of my nieces for my younger niece's (Kharylle) Recognition Day. She's an honors student and is in the second grade. Wondering why it's her sister that's on the stage with her? Their parents are abroad, working in separate countries.

As I sat there and listened, somehow I was transported to a different time, but in the same place. I am also an alumni at the same school except for my 1 month stint at Philippine Science High School in Agham Road.  It was so much different from my time. Back then, when you got into the honor roll, you got certificates, and awards given away are those of loyalty, etc. Now, they hand out medals for the honor roll and certificates for special awards.

My school has changed a lot too. From the time that it started with around 8 classrooms, it is now an entirely very long compound of its own. I checked the faculty roster and I recognized the name of the owner and her child as the director and academic affairs officer respectively. I saw that 3 of my teachers in highschool when I was there are still there. Then, I also recognized one of the alumni, now, a teacher in our school. Pretty amazing. I should also mention that the alumni was the pioneer class of our highschool, as in the first batch to graduate. I belonged to the 3rd batch to graduate from that school.

Maegan is school-age now and we are seriously considering my former alma mater to be her new school. The school announced last year on its 25th foundation anniversary of discounts given to children whose parents are alumni. I hope Maegan qualifies, the discount would go to a lot of things we need. Hopefully, Maegan will decide to stay in school since I don't think I can handle her being homeschooled. I think she has more respect to authority figures. She knows she can twirl mommy in her little fingers or if mommy's really tired mommy will turn into mommy monster. We've been bringing her to the school since there are a lot of occasions there and she enjoyed the book fairs there.

Summer classes are about to start as soon as the Holy Week is over. Hubby and I are still undecided on what classes will Maegan and Paul attend. Have you decided on what hobbies/crafts/sports/class will your kids attend? Suggestions?

Letters That I'll Never Send is moving

Dear Reader,

Yes, I'll be moving Letters That I'll Never Send beginning April into its own blog. Yes, I really appreciate the fact that I've gained a few participants here and there from that meme but I wanted it to have its own home so much that I decided to make a new blog for it.

I've added new features to the blog carnival which will hopefully attract more participants. Plus, this time you get 2 days of blogging fun.

There's a new button too, and its blog template I think matches what the blog is totally about. I had fun with the redesign and concept so, leave comments or visit the blog by going to Letters That I'll Never Send. The blog officially opens on April Fool's day and I am looking forward to your Dear Fool entries.
