Mommy Moments: Shoes

mommy moments

These are my kids shoes, most of them are given to them by doting aunts, grandparents, and godparents. As far as I can remember, I've only bought house slippers for them, and one sandals for Maegan. I got lucky there. I kept all of the gifts we received throughout occasions and they get to use them now. Honestly, the top shoes are the favorites of Maegan, but in reality it is still too big for her feet. She just enjoys running in them now and then since they light up and she's addicted to shoes that light up.
Paul's shoes are mostly gifts as well. When we go out, he picks out this pair of green shoes always. I think he feels comfortable in them whether he's wearing socks or not.

Mommy Moments: First Aid Tips

Join Mommy Moments
This week's topic for Mommy Moments is: First Aid Tips. What's yours?

Dear Reader,
mommy moments

I forgot to take the thermometer and have it photographed. I apologize for the poor quality of the photo. The photo was taken by my very cheap phone and poor lighting to boot. My first aid tip would be about kids suffering from diarrhea. We automatically add Erceflora to their milk. It's an oral suspension (Antidiarrheal of Microbial Origin). My kids are picky they don't like hydrite and others so I opt to use Gatorade. My kids prefer grape flavor. Well, for more First Aid Tips, go on and click on that button at the top of my post.Let's discover more first aid tips together.

Mommy Moments: Language of Love

mommy moments
Being a stay at home mom, and reviewing what Mommy Chris has to say about the Language of Love, I guess it all applies to us. Of the 5 Languages of Love, I love practicing Words of Affirmation and Physical Touch. As a stay at home mom, I think I get to use all the languages in a day . I'm the lazy type but being a stay at home mom means juggling between a lot of things. They like to receive gifts too but they're not spoiled by us yet, mostly their grandparents and godparents though. Maegan likes all the languages of love but demands more quality time and more acts of service. On the other hand, she uses words of affirmation and loves to hug. Paul is little by little doing the same things his sister does.

More languages of love?

Mommy Moments: Tantrums Tantrums

Tantrums. I congratulate moms who know how to handle kids with their tantrums. Sometimes, I try to ignore them. Sometimes, if I'm really tired, I yell at them. But do you know what works? I soothe them. Maegan explains why she gets angry in the first place. Paul just tells you No! and then cry. Or else tells you who is responsible for his tantrum. His sentence goes, " Mommy, Mommy, ate!" That means it's his sister who did something to him.

Mommy Moments: Treasured Photos

mommy moments

I know for a fact that most moms would have posted their photos with their infants in their arms. That, I guess is the most treasured photo of a mom. I opted to show you instead, photos where I am at my most flattering side and moments that I really like. The biggest photo is that of our family celebrating my daughter's 3rd birthday. The little photo on the left is my daughter on the chest of her dad with an impish smile. The 2nd little photo is of my son, on my arms wearing an impish smile, and last but not least of my treasured moments is of my wedding day, a photo taken before (* take note, before - nag photo opp na kami before going to church at the backyard) the wedding.

Mommy Moments: Hats!

mommy moments

Both my kids like to wear them. Party hats however are prone to getting torn off each other's heads so make sure that you have enough handy and that there's always 1 for each of them. In the photos, they're both wearing the same cap, they love that one. Paul loves it the most though. I feel as if they're gangsters when they wear it. Paul usually wears the cap on himself and calls it a hat. Maegan wears a bigger hat but funny thing is I never got a picture of her wearing it.They usually wear hats when they go to our backyard (yes, we have one) and at parties. Maegan wore a party hat on her birthday. Paul got to wear that party hat when we went to a Jollibee and we were the last ones there and we ordered lots of food so they gave away a lot of things to us.

Mommy Moments: Dress Up

mommy moments

This is the only photo I have that is well,'dress-up' in the sense that she's pretending to be a princess.
Oh my, now I remember... wait, let me venture to my archived photos if it's still there...

This is as dressed up as they'll ever get. This was Paul's 1st birthday.
Ate is wearing a formal little dress. Paul is dressed like his dad, except his dad didn't wear jumpers.
I'm so tempted to buy costumes for them. Just so they really can play dress up.
Maegan only wants to be a ballerina or a princess. (Inspired by Baby Bop)
Quick question: Is it wise to buy costumes for them? There's no trick or treat thingie/event in our city... maybe a couple of fairy wings? Oh well.

Mommy Moments: Name Game

mommy moments

This is P.M.
my only daughter
we call her Maegan
Maegan was named after my mom.
Hubby and I had a deal on how we were going to name our kids.
If the child was going to be a girl, initials would be PM, his name first, then mine, but the nickname is the M.
If the child was going to be a boy, initials would be MP, mine first, nickname is his initials.
Here's MP
my only son

his nickname is Paul.
He is an unexpected surprise.
My children have two names each.
Maegan's name means :  Noble Pearl
Paul's name means: Little Warrior

Mommy Moments: Rain Rain Go Away!

We don't usually go out when it rains. We watch the rain as it falls down on the open areas of the house.  That's why I was hesitant in making a post today. But I promised myself to never miss a Mommy Moment, so here I am. I do have this one adorable photo of my daughter dear when her grandma got her a little umbrella. So at least I have something to post about rains - umbrella and my daughter.

Mommy Moments: Look at that Mess!

This is our living room after my kids will make their havoc! The living room is our play area with rubber mats and all. You'll get tired picking up after them. So I've devised a strategy, I let them do all that they want, then start cleaning when they've taken a nap. So at least it gets a little neater. I forgot to take pictures of the walls, they've been using everything they could get their little hands on, from crayons to watercolor pastels and even pencils and pentel pens. Plus our couch is full of ballpen marks. Even if I insist that they use paper and not the walls, when I let my attention roam for even just a few minutes, wah... disaster happens. Does this reflect badly on my parenting style? I really don't know.

Mommy Moments: First Steps

The Story behind the photos:

Maegan tried to start walking when she was more than 1. But before she was 1, she was already talking and well, according to superstitious grandparents, not to worry because you can't do both at the same time or something to that effect. Anyways, Maegan was really babied. Always carried. Almost never let off by herself so when she grew a little, she keeps on insisting her independence. We started her with a walker, as you see in the picture. But soon enough, she started walking on her own.

Paul has a different story. Even before he turned 11 months, he would stand inside the crib. He would run around it. Trying to hold the edges or shoot his fingers through the net so he can move around the crib. When he gets tired, he crawls. I have a theory that Paul was just so challenged by the fact that his sister could go where she pleased that he had to do it too. He started to walk by feeling his way around the sofa and grasped everything he could so he could walk.  Before he was 1, he could walk a few steps. On his first birthday, he was walking around his party. It was just fun and so encouraging.

I seriously had to search high and low for these photos. It was so much fun though. At least, when I lose them or it gets old, hopefully I can go back to this blog and see them all again.

Mommy Moments: Playing Time

mommy moments

This is My Mommy Moments: Playing Time Entry
The photo on the left is of Maegan ordering the people on how the game is supposed to be played. When      her cousins are around, she likes to boss them around, even if she is younger than them. She loves playing ring around the rosie when they all come to visit. The photo to the right is of Maegan and Paul playing 'Stuck!'. Our bed has a space at the end, just an itty bitty one where they can slide themselves in and pretend to be stuck. They both shout "Stuck! Stuck! Stuck!" and if I don't respond soon, they shout " Help! Help! Help!". When in reality, they just grab on to the bed sheet and pull themselves up. Mommy Moments: Pouting Face

mommy moments

Pouts often occur when they don't get what they want. But my kids usually resort to crying. They love to cry their hearts out. Or act as if they want to cry. But my kids have perfected the art of crossing their arms and saying hmp! Smiles or crying faces are easier to capture.

Usually when you say pout, I just think of Angelina Jolie. Then I went to google search as always and found out that there's trout pout. Eew.
Wanna know what that looks like?

Mommy Moments: Encounter with Pets or Animals

It was a sunny day after the typhoon Feria. It has been raining every afternoon last week. The same week that my Maegan didn't attend her classes.
They decided to have some fun and they brought out their picnic chairs. Soon enough, we saw a bird who looked weak and hungry. Maegan asked 'Mama' for some bread. She broke the bread to little pieces and we threw it at the bird. It took around 5 minutes for me to realize that this was a photo opportunity for me. So I told the kids to stay with their Mama and I'll go get the camera. Maegan then told me to get their toy binoculars because they were going to do birdwatching. She learned this word from Word Worlds.By the time I got back with the binoculars and the camera, the bird was gone. We tried to look for more hungry birds, when we couldn't find any, we left the bread outside. After an hour, we all ventured out again, but all the bread was gone. Eaten by hungry birds, no doubt about it. Read more Mommy Moments entries!
